Description: On the first full day of the 2008 summer and the longest day of the year, over 150 men and women congregated on the shores of the scenic and storied Salmon River in Upstate New York to celebrate the emerging culture of 2-handed rods, the fishermen who use them and the fish they chase. They came to learn, they came to swap flies, they came to bulster the health of the fishery but what they found was the company of like-minded fellow steelhead fishermen banded together as friends and kin. Spey rodding as a general rule can be a solitary way to fish but on this day, they traveled from Oregon, Tennessee, Ohio, New Jersey, New England and Washington State to talk to each other, share experiences and make lifelong friends
